The course first opened in May 2006. In 2015, Golf Digest magazine called it the best public golf course in Idaho. It is built right next to the northwest side of Lake Cascade. The course is quite high up, about 4,900 feet (1,490 m) above sea level.
About the Course
The Osprey Meadows Golf Course is about 90 miles (145 km) north of Boise. The first nine holes of the course were ready to play in September 2005. The other nine holes opened the next spring.
The Tamarack Resort, where the course is, faced some challenges in 2008 and 2009. The resort closed for a short time. But the golf course was able to open in July 2009. It kept operating through the 2014 golf season. The course did not open in 2015 because of ownership changes. It was sold to new owners in 2016.
Golf Course Tees
Golf courses have different starting points for each hole called "tees." These tees are often colored or named to show different difficulty levels. At Osprey Meadows, the tees are named after the difficulty ratings of ski runs. This is a fun way to connect the golf course to the nearby ski resort!
- Double Diamond tees are for very experienced golfers.
- Diamond tees are for advanced players.
- Square tees are for intermediate players.
- Circle tees are for beginners or those who want an easier game.
