Sir Otho Holland (born around 1316 – died September 3, 1359) was an English soldier. He was one of the very first members of a special group called the Order of the Garter. Sometimes, people called him Otes or Eton Holland.

Sir Otho Holland's Life Story
Otho was born in a place called Brackley, in Northamptonshire, England. He was a younger son of Robert de Holland, 1st Baron Holand. His mother was Maud la Zouch. Otho had a brother named Thomas Holland, 1st Earl of Kent, who was also one of the first Knights of the Garter.
Fighting in France
In 1346, Otho joined his brother Thomas on a military trip to Normandy, a region in France. They fought in an important battle called the Battle of Caen. During this battle, a high-ranking French leader, the Constable of France, surrendered to Otho's brother.
Otho was given the job of guarding this important prisoner. However, Otho allowed his prisoner too much freedom. The prisoner was even allowed to visit France for a short time. Because of this, Otho was strongly criticized.
Becoming a Knight of the Garter
In 1348, Otho received a great honor. He became one of the first knights of the new Order of the Garter. His brother Thomas also became a member. This special order was based at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. Otho was given stall number 23 there.
In 1355, Otho went to France again with his brother Thomas for another military campaign. This time, Otho was captured in a region called Dauphiny. He had to be ransomed, which means money was paid to free him.
In 1359, Otho was made the Governor of the Channel Islands. These are islands located between England and France.
His Final Years
Sir Otho Holland passed away in Normandy, France, in 1359. He did not have any children. His lands and properties were then passed on to his brothers, Robert and Thomas.
