Our Lady Help of Christians Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Luton, Bedfordshire. It's a special place of worship for the local community. The church was first started in 1845. The beautiful building you see today was finished in 1910. You can find it right in the town centre, at the corner of Castle Street and Victoria Street. It's built in the Gothic Revival style, which means it looks like older, grand Gothic churches. This church was the very first Roman Catholic church built in Luton after a big historical event called the Reformation.

A Look Back: Church History
How the Church Started
In 1845, a Christian group called a mission began in Luton. It was started by a priest named Fr S. Ward. By the 1880s, this mission was looked after by St Joseph's Church in Bedford. About 180 people attended services there.
On January 20, 1884, the mission was officially named after Mary Help of Christians. The very first special service, called a Mass, was held by Fr Joseph A. O'Connor. People worked hard to collect money to build a permanent church. Later in the 1880s, a church made of iron was built for the community.
Building the Current Church
In 1910, the current church building was constructed. It was built on the exact same spot where the iron church used to be. This new church was designed to hold about 350 people.
Church Services Today
The church holds three Sunday Masses for people to attend. These are at 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, and 5:00 PM. There is also a Mass every weekday at 12:45 PM.
