History of the Church
Early Beginnings
The church first opened its doors in September 1829. At that time, it was dedicated to St. Mary. However, it closed for a while in 1851. This happened after another church, the Church of St. Joseph, opened nearby.
Reopening and New Dedication
The church reopened in 1860. French religious groups then took care of it. They rededicated the church to Our Lady of the Rosary. This is how it got its current name. The building was later updated and repaired between 1961 and 1962.
