Owen Moore (born December 12, 1886 – died June 9, 1939) was a famous actor. He was born in Ireland and became an American star. Owen Moore appeared in over 279 movies. His career lasted from 1908 to 1937.
Early Life and Acting Career
Owen Moore was born in Fordstown Crossroads, County Meath, Ireland. When he was young, his family moved to the United States. They arrived in May 1896 and settled in Toledo, Ohio. Owen and his brothers and sister all became successful actors in Hollywood, California.
While working at D. W. Griffith's Biograph Studios, Owen met an actress named Gladys Smith. They got married on January 7, 1911. Gladys later became very famous under her stage name, Mary Pickford.
In 1912, Owen Moore joined Victor Studios. He starred in many films there with the studio owner and actress, Florence Lawrence.

Mary Pickford later left Biograph Studios. She joined Independent Moving Pictures (IMP). The owner, Carl Laemmle, agreed to sign Owen Moore as part of the deal. Mary Pickford and Owen Moore divorced in 1920.
Owen Moore appeared in many popular films. He worked for Lewis J. Selznick's company. He was a popular star there in the late 1910s and early 1920s. He also made films for his own company.
Owen Moore married another silent film actress, Katherine Perry, in 1921. When movies started having sound, Owen's career changed. He began taking on supporting roles. He appeared with Mae West in the 1933 film She Done Him Wrong. His last movie was the 1937 drama A Star Is Born. In this film, he played a movie director.
Later Years and Legacy
Owen Moore passed away on June 9, 1939, in Beverly Hills, California.
