Meet Billy and His Owls
The story of Owls in the Family takes place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It's all about a boy named Billy who loves animals more than anything! Billy often brings home all sorts of creatures. He also spends a lot of time with his two best friends, Bruce and Murray.
Wol and Weeps: Two Unique Owls
Billy's pet collection grows even bigger when he finds two great horned owls. These owls, named Wol and Weeps, become very special to him.
The first owl, Wol, is larger and has lighter feathers. He has a very bold and brave personality. Billy and his friends found Wol under a bush after a big storm.
Soon after, Billy discovers Weeps, a smaller owl with mottled brown feathers. Weeps was stuck in a barrel filled with oil. Billy saw some older children throwing stones at Weeps, who couldn't fly. To save him, Billy traded his scout knife for the little owl. Unlike Wol, Weeps is quite shy and anxious. Because he can't fly well, Weeps often sits on the handlebars of Billy's bicycle.
Adventures and Goodbyes
Billy has many exciting adventures with Wol and Weeps. They share both tough times and happy moments together. The owls become a big part of Billy's life and his family's home.
However, things change when Billy and his family decide to move to Toronto, Ontario. Since they can't take the owls with them, Billy has to make a difficult decision. He trusts his good friend Bruce to take care of Wol and Weeps.
