Miron Yanovich Fyodorov (born January 31, 1985), better known by his stage name Oxxxymiron, is a famous Russian rapper. He is one of the most well-known and important hip-hop artists in Russia.

Many fans and critics believe his albums The Wandering Jew and Gorgorod are some of the best in Russian rap history. He also used to be the CEO of the Booking Machine agency, which helps artists plan their concerts.

Life Story

From Russia to England

Miron Fyodorov was born in 1985 in Leningrad (now called St. Petersburg), Russia. His family is Russian-Jewish. His father was a scientist who studied theoretical physics, and his mother was a librarian.

When Miron was nine, his family moved to Essen, Germany. He had a tough time at school because he was new and his German wasn't perfect. At age 13, he started writing rap songs in both German and Russian. He used the nickname MC Mif.

Two years later, when he was 15, his family moved again, this time to Slough, England. In 2004, Miron started studying at the famous University of Oxford. He studied English literature and was the president of the university's Russian community. In 2008, he graduated with his degree.

Starting a Music Career

After university, Miron moved to the East End of London. He decided to focus on his music again, using the new name Oxxxymiron. The name is a mix of his first name, Miron, the word oxymoron (a figure of speech with words that seem to contradict each other), and "triple X" to show his lyrics were for mature audiences.

Finding a job was hard. He worked as a cashier, translator, and guide, among other things. His experiences in London later inspired the Russian TV show Londongrad.

Music Journey

First Steps (2008–2010)

In 2008, Oxxxymiron released a new song called London Against All. This was his first major track after a seven-year break from music. Soon after, he joined a German record label called Optik Russia. There, he met another rapper named Dimitri Hinter, who is known as Schokk.

In 2009, Oxxxymiron competed in a big online rap battle on Hip-Hop.ru and made it to the semi-finals. He also performed his first live shows in Kyiv and Odesa.

The Vagabund Label (2011)

In 2010, Oxxxymiron and Schokk toured together. The next year, they started their own record label called Vagabund, which means "vagabond" or "wanderer" in German.

On September 15, 2011, Oxxxymiron released his first album, The Wandering Jew. The album was a big hit with critics. However, due to a conflict between the members, Oxxxymiron left the label later that year.

Mixtapes and More (2012–2014)

The next year, he released miXXXtape II: Long way home. This mixtape featured his best songs from 2012-2013. It also included remixed verses from his rap battle against another rapper named Krip-a-Krip.

The Gorgorod Album (2015–2016)

In 2015, Oxxxymiron released a music video for his song Londongrad. The song was used to promote the TV series of the same name.

His second official album, Gorgorod [ru], came out in 2015 and was a huge success. In 2016, he became the first Russian ambassador for the clothing brand Reebok Classic.

When the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine began, Oxxxymiron spoke out against it. He canceled his sold-out concerts in Russia, saying, "I cannot entertain you when Russian missiles are falling on Ukraine."

He then organized a series of charity concerts in other countries called "Russians Against War." The money raised was sent to help Ukrainian refugees. In October 2022, the Russian government added him to its list of "foreign agents". This label is used for people or groups that the government claims receive foreign support.
