Where US Airways Flew
US Airways had major flight centers, called hubs. These were in Charlotte, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Phoenix, Arizona. They also had many flights from other cities. These included Washington, DC, Las Vegas, Nevada, New York, New York, and Boston, Massachusetts.
US Airways Shuttle
The airline also operated the US Airways Shuttle. This was a special service with frequent flights. It connected cities in the northeastern part of the United States. Other smaller companies flew shorter flights for US Airways. These were known as US Airways Express. After US Airways joined American Airlines, this service became the "American Shuttle".
Joining Other Airlines
US Airways combined with other airlines over time. This helped it grow bigger.
Joining America West Airlines
In 2005, US Airways joined with America West Airlines. Even though they combined, they decided to keep the US Airways name.
Joining American Airlines
In 2013, US Airways announced a big plan. They would combine with American Airlines. This merger was completed on April 8, 2015. The new, larger airline kept the name "American Airlines". US Airways flew its very last flight on October 16, 2015.
