Enrique Pérez Díaz (born December 28, 1938 – died February 10, 2021), known as Pachín, was a famous Spanish football player. He played as a defender and later became a manager.

Pachín's Club Career

Pachín was born in Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain. He started his professional football journey with different clubs. In 1959, he joined Real Madrid, one of the biggest football clubs in the world. He came from CA Osasuna, a team in Spain's second division.

Playing for Real Madrid

Pachín made his first appearance in La Liga, Spain's top football league, on September 11, 1960. He quickly became a regular player for Real Madrid. He played as a starter for five seasons in a row.

Pachín stayed with Real Madrid until May 1968. During his time there, he played in 218 matches and scored two goals. He helped the team win many important titles. These included seven national championships (La Liga). He also won the European Cup twice, in 1960 and 1966. The European Cup is a very important tournament for top clubs in Europe.

Later Playing Years

After leaving Real Madrid, Pachín played for Real Betis in the 1968–69 season. He then played for a team called Club Deportivo Toluca before he stopped playing football in 1971.

Pachín as a Manager

After his playing career, Pachín became a football manager. He worked as a manager for 16 years. He managed several teams, mostly in the second division of Spanish football. One of his biggest achievements was helping Hércules CF get promoted to the top league in 1984. He was in charge for six matches during that time.

Pachín's International Career

Pachín also played for the Spanish national team. He played in eight matches for Spain over three years. His first game for Spain was on May 15, 1960. It was a friendly match against England, which Spain won 3–0.

Pachín was chosen to be part of the Spanish squad for the 1962 FIFA World Cup. This is a huge international football tournament. He played in matches against Mexico and Brazil during the tournament. Spain did not make it past the group stage that year.
