Palisade is a small village located in the state of Nebraska, in the United States. It is found in both Hayes and Hitchcock counties. In 2020, about 294 people lived there.

History of Palisade

Palisade was started in 1882. This was when the railroad tracks were built to reach this area. The village got its name because the land around it looked like a "palisade." A palisade is a tall fence of pointed wooden stakes, often used for defense.

Geography of Palisade

Most of Palisade is in Hitchcock County. Only a small part of the village reaches into Hayes County.

The village covers a total area of about 0.92 square kilometers (0.35 square miles). All of this area is land, with no water.
