Palmerdale's Early History
How Palmerdale Started
The story of Palmerdale goes back to a tough time in American history. This was during the Great Depression. Many people had lost their jobs and homes. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt created programs to help. These programs were part of his plan called the New Deal.
One of these programs was the Resettlement Administration. Its goal was to help people who were struggling in cities. It moved them to small farms in the countryside. This gave them a chance to grow their own food and make a new start. Palmerdale Homestead was one of these special communities.
Changing the Name
The area was first called Palmer Station. This name came from the Louisville and Nashville Railroad station nearby. Trains used to stop there. But in the 1930s, the name was changed. It became Palmerdale, which is what we call it today.
Palmerdale Today
Becoming Part of Pinson
