Palo Seco is a small community, also called a barrio, located in the town of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. It's on the island of Puerto Rico, which is part of the United States. In 2010, about 288 people lived there. Palo Seco is known for its important power plant, which helps provide electricity to many homes and businesses in Puerto Rico.
The Palo Seco Power Plant
Palo Seco is home to a very important power plant. This plant uses special fuel oil to create electricity for many parts of Puerto Rico. It's one of the main places that helps keep the lights on across the island.
Before two big storms, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, hit Puerto Rico in September 2017, there were plans to close the Palo Seco plant. These hurricanes caused a lot of damage across the island.
