Pambiche Cocina and Repostería Cubana, or simply Pambiche, is a lively Cuban restaurant. You can find it in northeast Portland, Oregon. It's a great place to try delicious food from Cuba!
About Pambiche
Pambiche is located in a unique old building. It's a "funky turn of the century Victorian building" at 2811 Northeast Glisan Street. This spot is in Portland's Kerns neighborhood.
The restaurant is owned by a chef and musician named John Maribona. He is a first-generation Cuban American. This means his family came from Cuba. He uses his family's special recipes to make the food.
Pambiche has outdoor seating where you can enjoy your meal. They also offer special deals during certain hours.
What's on the Menu?
The menu at Pambiche has many tasty Cuban dishes. You can find empanadas, which are savory pastries. They also serve delicious pork roast and prawns. Tostones are another popular item. These are crispy fried plantains.
Pambiche also has several choices for vegetarians. Some special plates include roasted corn and chicken. You might also try smoked ham in a creamy sauce called béchamel sauce. There's a Cuban creole fish sandwich made with red snapper. Another option is Valencia saffron rice with chicken.
For brunch, they offer plates with beans, eggs, and rice. You can choose your favorite protein to go with it.
A Bit of History
In 2011, Pambiche added some cool bicycle racks. They looked very Caribbean and artistic.
In 2015, something important happened. President Barack Obama announced plans to improve relations with Cuba. This was after more than fifty years of limited contact. John Maribona, the owner of Pambiche, was very happy about this news. He hoped that Pambiche would be able to get products made in Cuba, like Cuban chocolate.
