A Famous Visitor: President Obama

Pamela's Diner has even had a visit from a very famous person! In 2008, when he was running for president, Barack Obama stopped by Pamela's Diner. He visited as part of his campaign for the 2008 United States presidential election.

After he became president, Barack Obama invited Gail Klingensmith and Pam Cohen to the White House. They joined the Obama family and 80 veterans for a special Memorial Day breakfast. This was a big honor for the diner owners.

Later, in 2009, President Obama visited Pittsburgh again for a big meeting called the 2009 G-20 Pittsburgh summit. He said he was sad he couldn't go back to Pamela's Diner that time. However, the First Lady, Michelle Obama, did get to visit the diner. During that time, the Oakland location of Pamela's Diner had some minor damage.
