Pamela Isabel Cundell (born 15 January 1920 – died 14 February 2015) was an English actress. She was known for playing interesting and unique characters. Her most famous role was Mrs Fox in the popular TV comedy Dad's Army.

Pamela Cundell was related to Henry Condell. He was one of the managers of William Shakespeare's acting company. Henry Condell also helped publish Shakespeare's plays after his death.

Her Acting Life

Pamela Cundell came from a family involved in show business. She trained to be an actress at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She started her career performing in plays and summer shows.

Early Television Work

Pamela Cundell first appeared on television in 1957. She worked with many famous comedians of her time. These included Peter Sellers, Michael Bentine, Frankie Howerd, and Benny Hill.

Playing Mrs Fox in Dad's Army

Pamela Cundell became very well known for her role as Mrs Fox in Dad's Army. This was a long-running TV comedy series. Her character, Mrs Fox, was a semi-regular on the show. She was known for always wearing a fox fur draped over her shoulders. In the very last episode of Dad's Army, Mrs Fox married Lance-Corporal Jones. He was played by actor Clive Dunn.

In 2008, Pamela Cundell was interviewed about her time on Dad's Army. This was for a special show celebrating the 40th anniversary of the series.
