Paredones is a town and commune located in Chile. It is part of the Cardenal Caro Province in the O'Higgins Region. A commune is like a local area or district that has its own government.
Paredones: Population and Area
Paredones covers an area of about 561.5 square kilometers. That's roughly the size of 56,150 football fields!
According to a census from 2002, Paredones had 6,695 people living there. More than half of the people (4,500) lived in the countryside, which is called a rural area. The rest (2,195 people) lived in towns, which are called urban areas.
How Paredones is Governed
Paredones is run by a local government called a municipal council. This council helps make decisions for the commune.
The leader of the commune is called an alcalde, which is like a mayor. The alcalde is chosen by the people in an election every four years. The current alcalde for Paredones is Antonio Carvacho Vargas. He was elected for the 2021-2024 term.
