Park Towers are two tall buildings in Paradise, Nevada. They are located just east of the famous Las Vegas Strip. These buildings are called "twin towers" because they look very similar. They contain many apartments, which are known as condominiums. The idea for Park Towers was first announced in 1998. Construction began in 1999, and the buildings were finished in 2001.

Building Park Towers

The idea for Park Towers came from a developer named Irwin Molasky. He announced the project in March 1998. At first, it was called The Park at Hughes Center. Later, it was renamed Park Towers.

Planning the Towers

The plan was to build two towers with 84 apartments. The cost was expected to be around $100 million. Even before construction started, many apartments were already sold. The buildings were planned for a 3.8-acre piece of land. This land was part of the Hughes Center business park. It was near important roads like Flamingo Road and Paradise Road.

Construction Begins

Building was supposed to start in fall 1998. However, it was delayed until April 1999. The construction was expected to take about 15 months to two years.

In July 1999, another important person joined the project. This was Steve Wynn, a well-known developer. He helped design the buildings. Steve Wynn even bought a very expensive apartment in Park Towers for himself.

Funding and Features

In September 1999, two banks agreed to help pay for the construction. They provided $70 million. The total cost of the project was expected to be $120 million.

The buildings were planned to have special features. For example, the elevators would only move after scanning a resident's security card. This was to keep everyone safe. There was even a website where people could watch the construction live, 24 hours a day!

Finishing the Project

The first people started moving into their new homes in March 2001. The entire project was officially completed in July 2001.

The company that built the towers was J.A. Jones Construction. The developers spent $1 million just on making the outside areas look nice with plants and trees. The apartments in Park Towers were very expensive. They cost anywhere from $750,000 to $5 million. Even famous basketball player Shaquille O'Neal thought about buying an apartment there!

Impact of Park Towers

Park Towers, along with another building called Turnberry Place, started a big trend. They inspired many more condominium buildings to be built in Las Vegas. This building boom began around 2003.

As of 2011, one of the original developers, Irwin Molasky, lived in a large apartment at Park Towers.
