Team History and Growth
Thistle Weir Ladies Football Club officially started in 2014. Before that, it was part of a charity for one year. On October 22, 2018, the team got a big chance. The top two teams in their league could not move up. This was because they were junior teams of bigger clubs. So, Thistle Weir, who finished third, was promoted. They moved up to the Scottish Women's Premier League 2.
Becoming Partick Thistle Women
On January 23, 2019, the club changed its name. It became Partick Thistle Women's Football Club. In September 2020, new coaches joined the team. These coaches were three players from the men's Partick Thistle team. Brian Graham became the manager. The club thought this was the first time professional men's players managed a women's team in this way.
Moving Up to the Top League
Partick Thistle did not get promoted from SWPL2 in the 2020–21 season. They finished in third place. However, they were invited to join the top league. This happened because another team, Forfar Farmington, left the league. This invitation came just before the new season began. The SWPL league was set to get bigger after the 2021–22 season. This meant no teams would be sent down to a lower league. So, the Jags (Partick Thistle's nickname) would play at least one more season in the highest division.
Home Stadium
The team plays its home games at Petershill Park. This park is owned by Glasgow City Council. It is located in the Springburn area of Glasgow.
