Patrick Vasquez-Vegas (born March 17, 1941) is a talented Native American musician. He is known for his skills as a singer, writer, and producer. Pat Vegas is a founding member of the famous band Redbone.

Redbone is well-known for their hit songs like "Come and Get Your Love" and "The Witch Queen of New Orleans". Pat Vegas has played in many groups, including Pat and Lolly Vegas and The Avantis. He and his Redbone bandmates were honored at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. They were recognized as the first rock group with Native American roots to have a number one song.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Pat Vegas was born in Coalinga, California. His original name was Patrick Vasquez-Vegas. Both Pat and his brother, Candido "Lolly" Vasquez-Vegas, loved music. They played in local bands when they were younger.

In 1960, the brothers moved to Los Angeles to become professional musicians. They changed their last name to Vegas. Pat started his career as a member of the house band for a TV show called Shindig. Later, he and Lolly performed together as The Vegas Brothers. After that, they formed the band Redbone.

Pat Vegas's Music Journey

Pat Vegas began releasing his own music in 1961. His first single was "I Wanna Be A Movie Star." The next year, he released another song called "That Smile."

Playing with The Avantis

Pat and Lolly also led a band called The Avantis. This group included drummer Mike Kowalski and guitarist Danny Hamilton. The Avantis even opened shows for the famous band The Beach Boys. They worked closely with Judd Hamilton, who helped arrange and write their songs. In 1963, The Avantis had a small hit song called "Wax 'Em Down." It reached number 36 on the Canadian music charts.

Forming Redbone

In 1969, Pat Vegas, his brother Lolly, rhythm guitarist Tony Bellamy, and drummer Pete DePoe created the band Redbone. This band became very successful. They released popular songs like "Maggie," "The Witch Queen of New Orleans," and their biggest hit, "Come And Get Your Love."

Recent Years and Achievements

Pat Vegas was featured in a 2017 movie called Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World. This documentary explored how Native American musicians influenced rock 'n' roll music.

In 2018, Pat Vegas performed at the CBC Indigenous Music Awards in Winnipeg. He also received a special Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognized his amazing work and contributions with the band Redbone. Pat Vegas has four children.

Solo Music

Pat Vegas has also released music on his own. In 2013, he released an album called Speed of Sound under the name "Ambergris." He also released several singles earlier in his career.
