Patof is a super popular clown character from a Canadian children's TV show called Patofville. A talented actor and comedian named Jacques Desrosiers brought Patof to life.

Patof's TV Adventures
Patof the clown first appeared in January 1972. He was part of a TV series called Le Cirque du Capitaine. This show was on a French-speaking TV station in Quebec called CFTM-TV Channel 10.
Patof later hosted three of his own TV shows. These were Patofville, Patof raconte, and Patof voyage.
Patof was known for telling funny jokes and stories. He loved to use wordplay, which are jokes that use words with double meanings. He often ended his acts by shouting, "On m'applaudit!!!" This means "Applaud me!!!"
Patof's Music Hits
Patof also had a very successful music career in the 1970s. Many of his songs became big hits. Some popular songs included Patof Blou (1972) and Patof le roi des clowns (1972). Other favorites were Patofville (1973) and L'éléphant Tic-Tac (1973). He also sang Bienvenue dans ma bottine (1974) and Gros minou (1975).
Patof even recorded a song in English. It was called "The King of Clowns." He made it for his English-speaking fans.
Patof's Other Adventures
Patof was a busy clown! He performed in the Shriners Circus. He was at the Montreal Forum in both 1973 and 1974.
Some of Patof's adventures were turned into recordings and comic strips. These stories took him to many exciting places. He went to Russia, the Arctic, and even met "little green men." He also visited cowboys and dinosaurs!
The Story of Patof
Patof's full name is Gregor Patof. He was born in a place called Bobruisk in Belarus. His parents were both circus performers. They worked for the famous Great Moscow circus.
When Patof was young, he lost his parents. Being in the circus reminded him too much of them. So, he decided to leave and start fresh. He wanted to go somewhere cold, like Moscow. That's why he chose to come to Montreal in Canada.
Patof in Quebec
In Montreal, Patof was lucky to meet "Capitaine Bonhomme." Capitaine Bonhomme was always ready to help. He gave Patof a job as a clown on television. Patof quickly became a favorite among young people.
He often visited hospitals, orphanages, and community centers. He did these visits for free. Because of his kindness, he became a hero to young people all over Quebec. He was even loved by kids outside of Quebec!
Besides being a clown, Patof is also the mayor of Patofville. Patofville is a fun and surprising city. It has exciting things for both kids and adults. Patof works with his friends Boulik, Polpon, and Itof. Together, they make sure Quebec is known for its "Joie de Vivre," which means joy of living.

Patof
Gregor Patof is a Russian clown. He is the main character of Patofville. He is also the mayor of the city. Patof first appeared in the TV show "Le cirque du capitaine."
Patof wears red pants and a tweed coat. His coat has a special collar and matching cuffs. He also wears huge red shoes. These shoes are sometimes called "tatanes." In Patofville, Patof lives in a big yellow boot! He is also the director of the Patof Circus.
Polpon
Mister Polpon is the Police and Fire Chief of Patofville. He is a very important character. He is Patof's best friend and someone Patof can trust. Polpon lives in a giant teapot. This teapot also doubles as a prison!
Itof
General Itof is a Russian spy. His secret mission is to get Patof to return to Moscow. Itof is very clever. He is an inventor, a great imitator, and loves to play jokes. He is also a master of disguise.
Itof wears a traditional Cossack costume. He has a surprising mustache that seems to change with his mood! In Patofville, Itof lives inside a huge pumpkin.
Boulik
Boulik (whose full name is Boulik Scavanovitch) is Patof's loyal dog. He is a talking dog from a special breed called Toutousavanski. Boulik gets very excited and a little crazy when he sees a cat!
