Patrick Barnabas Burke Mayhew, Baron Mayhew of Twysden (born 11 September 1929 – died 25 June 2016) was an important British politician and lawyer. He was a member of the Conservative Party.
He served in the British Parliament for many years. He was known for his work in government, especially in legal roles and as a key minister for Northern Ireland.

Early Political Career
Patrick Mayhew became a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tunbridge Wells area in February 1974. He held this position for 23 years, until 1997.
His first government job was as an Under-Secretary for Employment from 1979 to 1981. This role involved helping with jobs and workers' rights. After that, he worked at the Home Office, which deals with law and order in the country.
