Early Life and Big Dreams
Patrick Nuo was born on August 31, 1982, in Lucerne, Switzerland. His mother is Swiss, and his father is an Albanian from Kosovo. He grew up in Lucerne with his younger brother, Simon.
When he was 14, Patrick had a dream of becoming a professional tennis player. However, he soon decided to follow his passion for music instead. At 17, he moved to Hamburg, Germany, to start his music career. There, he worked as a backing vocalist, singing harmony for other artists on their records. He also modeled for charity projects to help others. Later, he moved to Los Angeles, California.
Music Career
Welcome to the Charts
In 2002, Nuo's career took a big step forward. He met producer David Jost, who helped him get a record deal with Warner Music. Together, they created his first album, Welcome, which came out in September 2003.
The album was a success in Switzerland and Germany. His first single, "5 Days," was a hit. His next song, "Reanimate," reached number 18 on the Swiss music charts.
In the same year, Nuo joined a Christian music group called Zeichen der Zeit. Their song "Du bist nicht allein" (which means "You Are Not Alone") was a top ten hit in Germany. In 2004, another song from the group, "Ein weiterer Morgen," also made it into the top 40.
Superglue and More Hits
In May 2005, Nuo released his second album, Superglue. It became his most successful album in Switzerland, reaching number four on the charts.
The album had two popular singles. The first was "Girl in the Moon." The second, "Beautiful," became his biggest hit. It reached number nine in Switzerland and number seven in Austria.
In 2006, Nuo worked with Zeichen der Zeit again on their second album, Generation David. He also took part in a charity project for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He sang on a cover of the song "Won't Forget These Days" to raise money for a good cause.
Later Music and TV Appearances
Nuo released his third album, Nuo, in 2007. One of its songs, "Watchin' Over You," was the only single from the album to appear on the music charts.
In 2011, Nuo became a judge on the German TV show Deutschland sucht den Superstar, which is similar to American Idol. He sat on the jury with producer Dieter Bohlen and singer Fernanda Brandão.
Two years later, in 2013, he appeared on the reality TV show Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!. This show is the German version of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. He competed with other celebrities and finished in fifth place.
