Paul T. Buchheit, born on November 7, 1977, is an American computer expert and business person. He is famous for creating Gmail, a very popular email service. He also helped develop Google AdSense, which shows ads on websites. Paul Buchheit even suggested Google's well-known motto, Don't be evil.

Early Life and Education

Paul Buchheit was born in Webster, New York. He went to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. There, he studied computer engineering, which is about designing and building computers. He was also part of the university's rowing team.

His Work at Google

Paul Buchheit first worked at a company called Intel. Later, he became the 23rd person to be hired at Google. This was a very early time for Google!

Creating Gmail

At Google, Paul started working on Gmail in 2001. He wanted to make an email service that was easy to search and had lots of storage space. This was a big deal because, back then, most email services didn't offer much storage.

Developing Google AdSense

While working on Gmail, Paul also helped create the first version of Google AdSense. This is a system that places ads on websites. It helps website owners earn money when people click on the ads.

Starting New Companies

Paul Buchheit left Google in 2006. He then started his own company called FriendFeed in 2007, with his partner Bret Taylor. FriendFeed was a social media service that let people share updates and links.
