Peanut is a small place in eastern Franklin County, Arkansas, United States. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own city government like a town or city does.
About Peanut, Arkansas
Peanut is found right next to the Mulberry River. It's where the Mulberry River meets Clear Creek. This area is also very close to the border between Franklin County and Johnson County.
Location and Nature
This community is inside the beautiful Ozark–St. Francis National Forest. The city of Ozark is about thirteen miles to the south-southwest. You can find Arkansas Highway 215 passing by on the north side of the river floodplain.
A Bit of History
Before 1945, this small community was known by a different name: "Taft." At one point, Taft even had its own post office, which was a big deal for a small settlement.
In 1975, records show that there was only one house located in Peanut.
