Whiteway's Peardrax is a fizzy drink with a yummy pear flavour. It's a type of soft drink, meaning it doesn't have alcohol. This special drink is super popular in Trinidad and Tobago.

Peardrax first came from the United Kingdom. It was made by a company called Whiteway's. This company used to make cider and started in a place called Whimple, Devon, many years ago.

Peardrax: A Taste of History

Peardrax was quite popular with some kids in Britain during the 1960s and 1970s. However, not everyone loved it! One writer, Victor Lewis-Smith, described it as a "foul, resinous, cloying, sweet beverage."

The drink stopped being sold in the UK in 1988. Its sales had dropped a lot. Another similar drink, Cydrax, which tasted like apple, also disappeared from UK shops around the same time.

Why Peardrax is Special in Trinidad and Tobago

Even though Peardrax left the UK, it stayed very popular in Trinidad and Tobago. People there loved it so much that it became a big part of their culture!

Since 2004, Pepsi-Cola Trinidad Bottling Company has been making and selling Peardrax. They have a special agreement with Gaymer Cider Company to do this.

In December 2017, the Peardrax and Cydrax brands were bought by a new company. This company is called Caribbean Distribution Partners. It's a joint venture between Agostini’s Ltd from Trinidad and Goddard Enterprises from Barbados.
