Pedreguer is a charming town and municipality located in the Marina Alta area of Alicante, Spain. It sits at the base of a large mountain called Muntanya Gran. The town is also very close to the bigger coastal towns of Dénia and Xàbia. In 2008, about 7,097 people lived there. Pedreguer is also near the Jalon Valley, which is famous for its beautiful almond tree blossoms in springtime.

Celedonio Calatayud
Celedonio Calatayud was born in Pedreguer on October 29, 1880. He became a very important Spanish scientist and radiologist. He is remembered for his work with radiology and electrology. Calatayud was one of the first people in Europe to use X-rays and electricity in medicine. He used them for both diagnosing illnesses and for treatment. In 1928, Pedreguer honored him by declaring him a "favourite son" of the town. He passed away in Madrid on January 24, 1931.
