Pedro Juan Carrasco García (born July 11, 1943 – died January 27, 2001) was a famous Spanish boxer. He was very popular in Spain during the 1970s. His fame went far beyond just the boxing ring.

Pedro Carrasco's Boxing Career
Pedro Carrasco became a boxing champion in Europe. He won the European Lightweight title in 1967. This was a big achievement for him.
Winning the World Title
Four years later, in 1971, Pedro Carrasco fought for the world Lightweight title. He faced Mando Ramos in Madrid. Pedro won the fight. This made him the second world boxing champion from Spain.
However, his victory was quite unusual. Pedro won the title while he was lying on the floor. He had been hit by Ramos. The referee was unsure if the hit was allowed. But he decided it was an illegal move. So, the referee declared Pedro Carrasco the winner. This made Pedro a national hero in Spain.
Rematches and Challenges
Because of the unusual way Pedro won, the WBC asked for a rematch. This second fight happened in Los Angeles. Many people thought Pedro Carrasco won this fight clearly. But the judges decided that Mando Ramos was the winner. So, Ramos got his title back. They had another rematch, and Ramos won again.

Pedro Carrasco had a very impressive boxing record. He won 105 fights, lost 3, and had 2 draws. He won 66 of his fights by knockout.
After starting his career with 12 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw, Pedro went on an incredible streak. He won 92 fights in a row, with only one draw. This long streak of not losing was very special. In 1983, the WBC named Pedro Carrasco as one of the 40 greatest boxers of the last 40 years.

Pedro Carrasco was known for being a smart and educated fighter. He became a big star in the media. He was often seen with famous Spanish entertainers. His picture appeared on the covers of popular magazines like ¡Hola! many times.
Pedro married a famous singer named Rocío Jurado. They had a daughter together, named Rocío Carrasco. He was also married to Raquel Mosquera for five years.
Pedro Carrasco passed away in 2001 from a heart attack. He was only 57 years old. His death was a shock to many people in Spain.
