Pedro García is a small community, also known as a barrio, located in the municipality of Coamo in Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 666 people lived there. A barrio is like a neighborhood or a district within a larger town or city.

History of Pedro García
Puerto Rico has a long and interesting history. It was once controlled by Spain. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave up Puerto Rico to the United States. This change happened because of an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
Becoming a U.S. Territory
When Puerto Rico became part of the United States, it was called an "unincorporated territory." This means it belongs to the U.S. but is not a state and has some different rules.
Early Population Count
Soon after, in 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, found that 1,697 people lived in the Pedro García barrio at that time.
