Peel's Restaurant is a special place to eat located in Hampton Manor, Hampton-in-Arden. It has earned a very important award called a Michelin star. This means it's one of the best restaurants! It also has four AA Rosettes, another top award for great food.

Hampton Manor is a historic building. It's a "Grade II listed building," which means it's protected because of its special history and architecture. The Manor used to be the home of Frederick Peel. His father, Robert Peel, was a famous Prime Minister (the leader of the government) in the past.

In 2008, a family of hoteliers, Derrick and Janet Hill, bought the Manor. Today, their son James and his wife Fjona run it. It's now a "Restaurant with Rooms," meaning you can eat amazing food and also stay overnight.

The Head Chef at Peel's is Robert Palmer. He became Head Chef when he was just 27 years old. Chef Robert is known for using fresh, local ingredients that are in season. He cooks them using modern cooking styles. In October 2016, Peel's won its Michelin star. This happened just one week after it received its fourth AA rosette! The team also won a special "Welcome and Service Award" in 2017 from the Michelin Guide.

History of Hampton Manor

Hampton Manor has a rich history. The land was first bought by Robert Peel. He was a former Prime Minister and even helped create the British Police Force. After he passed away, his son, Frederick Peel, decided to build the Manor House we see today.

In 1855, a designer named William Eden Nesfield created the building. It has a special "Neo-Tudor Gothic" style. The Peel family was very important during the Industrial Revolution. This was a time when new machines changed how things were made, especially in the cotton industry. Their family motto, 'Industria' (which means 'Industry'), is carved into the wood on the main staircase.

Later, Frederick Peel added more artistic touches to the estate. In 1872, he asked Nesfield to build a clocktower. Around 1900, he had Thomas Hayton Mawson design a beautiful walled garden with a special gateway. These additions show the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement. This movement focused on handmade items and natural designs.

In March 2008, Derrick and Jan Hill bought the estate. They spent a lot of money to make it new again. In 2019, they opened Hampton Manor as a hotel with 15 bedrooms and a restaurant. Now, their son James and his wife Fjona manage the business. Fjona designed the inside of the Manor. She used ideas from its Arts and Crafts past. For example, she used William Morris wallpapers and worked with local artists to create unique, handmade furniture.

In 2017, because Peel's Restaurant was so successful, James and Fjona changed the Manor's focus. It became known as a "Restaurant with Rooms." Hampton Manor has won many awards too. It won "Best Afternoon Tea," "Fine Dining Restaurant" (for Peel's), and "Boutique Hotel" at the Midlands Food Drink and Hospitality Awards. The next year, Hampton Manor's manager, Craig Newman, won "Best General Manager."

Peel's Restaurant Achievements

Peel's Restaurant is a key part of Hampton Manor. It first opened in 2008. But it was in 2016 when Head Chef Rob Palmer took over that the restaurant really started to shine. Rob was only 27 when he became Head Chef. He had worked his way up, starting as a Junior Sous Chef.

From the very beginning, Rob has loved using fresh, local British ingredients. He cooks them using modern techniques. Some of his popular dishes have included heirloom tomato with burrata cheese and basil, asparagus with burrata and chicken, and beetroot with goat's cheese. These dishes often appear on his menu, changing with the seasons.

On October 3, 2016, Peel's was awarded a Michelin star. This is a huge honor in the food world! They also won the "Welcome and Service Award" from the Michelin Guide. On the same day, Peel's received its fourth AA-rosette. This made it one of only about 50 restaurants in the UK to have this many rosettes. Peel's Restaurant proudly kept its Michelin star in the 2018 awards as well.
