Margaret L. Murray (born February 14, 1924 – died November 29, 2020) was an American actress. She performed in plays on stage and also on television. Margaret went to college at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and finished her studies in 1945.

Acting Career

Margaret Murray was born in Denver, Colorado. She was one of three children in her family. She became a famous actress, especially on Broadway.

Broadway Success

Margaret won a special award called a Tony Award. This award is given for excellent performances in Broadway shows. She won it for her role as "Fräulein Kost" in the first Broadway show of Cabaret in 1966.

Later, she also played the part of "Fräulein Schneider" in Cabaret. She first learned the role as an understudy, meaning she was ready to play it if the main actress, Lotte Lenya, couldn't. Margaret eventually took over the role full-time.

Television and Film Roles

Margaret Murray also acted on television during the day. She played Carrie Johnson Lovett on the show Love of Life. She was also Olga Swenson, a modeling agent, on All My Children.

For a few weeks, she filled in for another actress, Constance Ford, as Ada Hobson on Another World. Margaret also starred in a short TV comedy show called Me & Mrs. C. on NBC. She appeared in some movies too, like Some of My Best Friends Are... (1971), W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings (1975), and Act of Vengeance (1986).

Personal Life

Margaret Murray never got married. She lived mostly in New York City and also in Southold, New York. She was part of a group called the Herstory Writers Group. Margaret passed away on November 29, 2020, when she was 96 years old.
