Peperuda Island is a small, mostly ice-free island located in the Wilhelm Archipelago, near the Antarctic Peninsula in Antarctica. It stretches about 592 meters (1,942 feet) long and 309 meters (1,014 feet) wide. This makes its total surface area about 9.51 hectares, which is roughly the size of 13 football fields.
The island gets its name, Peperuda, from the Bulgarian word for "butterfly." People thought its shape looked a bit like a butterfly. This name fits in with other islands in the area that also have descriptive names.
