Peralillo is a lovely town and commune located in Chile. It is found in the Colchagua Province, which is part of the O'Higgins Region. This area is known for its beautiful landscapes and friendly communities.
Peralillo's Population and Area
In 2002, a special count called a census was done in Peralillo. This count helps us learn about the people living there. The National Statistics Institute collected all the information.
Peralillo covers an area of about 282.6 square kilometers. That's like a square with sides of about 16.8 kilometers each.
The census showed that 9,729 people lived in Peralillo. There were slightly more men (5,007) than women (4,722). Most people, about 5,882 (60.5%), lived in urban areas, which are like towns or cities. The rest, 3,847 people (39.5%), lived in rural areas, which are more like the countryside.
Between 1992 and 2002, the number of people living in Peralillo grew. The population increased by 585 people, which is a 6.4% growth!
How Peralillo is Governed
Peralillo is managed as a "commune," which is a type of local government area in Chile. It's like a local district that takes care of the town's needs.
A group called the municipal council helps run the commune. This council is led by an "alcalde" (which means mayor). The mayor is chosen by the people of Peralillo in an election every four years.
The current mayor of Peralillo, for the years 2021 to 2024, is Claudio Cumsille. He works to make Peralillo a great place to live.
