Perm Krai is a special region in Russia. It's called a krai, which is like a large territory or province. It was formed on December 1, 2005. This happened after people voted in 2004 to combine two older areas: Perm Oblast and the Komi–Permyak self-governing district. The main city and capital of Perm Krai is Perm.

Geography of Perm Krai
Perm Krai is located in the eastern part of the East European Plain. It also covers the western slopes of the Middle Ural Mountains. The region stretches about 645 kilometers (401 miles) from north to south. From west to east, it is about 417.5 kilometers (260 miles) wide.
Rivers and Waterways
The rivers in Perm Krai are all part of the Kama River Basin. The Kama River is the largest branch of the mighty Volga River. There are more than 29,000 rivers in Perm Krai. If you put them all together, they would stretch over 90,000 kilometers (56,000 miles)!
Only two rivers in the region are longer than 500 kilometers (310 miles). These are the Kama River, which is about 1,120 kilometers (700 miles) long, and the Chusovaya River, which is about 592 kilometers (368 miles) long.
Landscape and Mountains
The landscape of Perm Krai is mostly made up of low, rolling hills. These hills are covered with forests and open fields. The Ural Mountains are found in the eastern part of Perm Krai. The highest point in the territory is a mountain called Tulysmsky Kamen. It stands at about 1,496 meters (4,908 feet) tall and is located in the northeastern part of the region.
