Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Perris Valley Historical and Museum Association (PVH&MA) is a group that helps keep the history of the Perris Valley safe. They started in 1964. Their main job is to find, protect, and share old things and stories from the area.

Exploring Perris Valley's Past

The Perris Valley Historical and Museum Association is a special club. It is made up of people who want to save history. They collect, organize, and show off items that tell the story of the Perris Valley. They also make small books about the valley's past.

What the Museum Collects

The museum has many cool things. You can see items from the Luiseño people, who lived here long ago. They also have clothes from the early 1900s. There are old farming tools and mining tools. You can even find personal items that belonged to Fred T. Perris. He is the person the city of Perris is named after.

The Historic Perris Depot

The museum is usually located in the old Perris Santa Fe Depot. This building is very old and special. It is made of red brick. The Depot is a great example of a style called High Victorian architecture. It is so important that it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is a nationally recognized historic site. Right now, many of the museum's collections are in storage. This is because the historic Depot is being fixed up and made new again.

Fun Events and Activities

The PVH&MA hosts fun events every year. They have a special day called Fred T. Perris Day. They also hold a silent auction each year. The association takes part in other local events too. These include the Potato Festival, the Christmas Parade, and the Southern California Fair. The current president of the association is Midgie Parker.
