Perryville (called Perry-q in the Alutiiq language) is a small community in Alaska, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a place that the government counts for population, but it's not officially a city or town.
In 2020, 88 people lived in Perryville. This was a bit less than the 113 people who lived there in 2010. Perryville is located in the Lake and Peninsula Borough of Alaska.

History of Perryville
Perryville has an interesting history, especially how it came to be.
Mount Katmai Eruption
On June 6, 1912, a huge volcano called Mount Katmai erupted. This powerful eruption forced many local Native people to leave their homes forever.
About a month later, 78 of these people, who were now refugees, got on a ship called the Manning. Their goal was to go back to the Alaska Peninsula and start a new village.
Finding a New Home
Their first attempt to find a new village site didn't work out. So, they were moved again to a new spot. This new place was about 200 miles (320 km) southwest of Mount Katmai.
The new settlement was first named "Perry." It was named after K.W. Perry, who was the captain of the ship Manning that helped them. Later, the name changed to "Perryville."
Recent Earthquake
On July 29, 2021, a very strong earthquake happened. It was a magnitude 8.2 earthquake and struck about 65 miles (104 km) southeast of Perryville.

Perryville is located in the southwestern part of the Lake and Peninsula Borough in Alaska.
Location and Surroundings
The community sits on the southern shore of the Alaska Peninsula. It is right at the mouth of the Kametolook River. If you look out from Perryville, you can see the Chiachi Islands in the Pacific Ocean, about 2 miles (3 km) away.
Perryville also has its own airport, called Perryville Airport, which helps people travel to and from the community.
