Peter, Paul and Mommy is a special album released in 1969 by the famous folk music group Peter, Paul and Mary. This was their very first album made just for kids! It includes many well-loved songs, like "Puff the Magic Dragon". The album was very popular, reaching number 12 on the Billboard Top LPs chart. One of its songs, "Day is Done", also did well on the music charts.

At the Grammy Awards of 1970, Peter, Paul and Mommy won a big award. It was named the Best Recording for Children. This shows how much people loved this album for its fun and kid-friendly songs.

The Story Behind the Album

According to Paul Stookey, one of the members of Peter, Paul and Mary, this album came about very naturally. He explained that almost all their earlier albums already had at least one song for children. So, making a whole album just for kids felt like the right next step for the group.

This album features a mix of brand-new songs and some old favorites. Songs like "It's Raining" and "Puff (The Magic Dragon)" were re-recorded for this album. They even added a children's choir in the background, which made the songs even more special! The song "Day is Done" was written by Peter Yarrow, another member of the group. Other songs, like "The Marvelous Toy" and "Going To The Zoo," were written by the talented songwriter Tom Paxton.
