Peter Brown (born Pierre Lynn de Lappe; October 5, 1935 – March 21, 2016) was an American actor. He was well-known for playing Deputy Johnny McKay in the TV western series Lawman from 1958 to 1962. He also played Texas Ranger Chad Cooper on NBC's Laredo from 1965 to 1967.

Early Life and First Steps in Acting
Peter Brown was born in New York City. When he was serving in the United States Army in Alaska, he started writing, directing, and acting in plays. These plays were made to entertain other soldiers.
After leaving the Army, Brown studied drama at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He soon began appearing in plays and on a TV show called NBC Matinee Theatre. To support himself, he worked at a gas station in Los Angeles. One day, he met Jack L. Warner, one of the famous Warner Brothers, who helped him start his acting career.

Peter Brown had a long career in Hollywood. He appeared in many movies and television shows.
Early Film Roles
As an actor working for Warner Brothers, Brown appeared in the movie Darby's Rangers (1958) with James Garner. He also acted in Merrill's Marauders (1962) and Red Nightmare (1962).

Peter Brown became famous for his roles in popular western TV series.
Lawman
One of his most important roles was Deputy Johnny McKay in Lawman. He starred alongside John Russell, who played Marshal Dan Troop. This show ran from 1958 to 1962. Peter Brown was the last surviving actor from the main cast of Lawman.
Maverick
Brown also played Johnny McKay in a special episode of Maverick called "Hadley's Hunters" in 1961. He also appeared on Maverick in other episodes, playing different characters.
Cheyenne
In 1957 and 1958, Brown appeared in several episodes of another western series, Cheyenne. He played different characters like Clay Conover, Billy Younger, and Jed Wayne.
Colt .45
Brown also guest-starred twice in the western show Colt .45. He played Dave in the first episode of the series in 1957 and later played Jimmy Benedict.
