Peter Magnus Flanigan (born June 21, 1923, died July 29, 2013) was an American investment banker. He became a very important helper and fundraiser for President Richard M. Nixon.

Early Life and Education
Peter Flanigan was born in Manhattan, New York City. His parents were Horace "Hap" Flanigan, a banker, and Aimee Flanigan. His mother's grandfather, Adolphus Busch, helped start the Anheuser-Busch company. Peter was raised as a Catholic.
During World War II, Peter Flanigan served in the U.S. Navy. He was a pilot on an aircraft carrier. After the war, he went to Princeton University. He graduated with very high honors. Later, he started working at an investment company called Dillon, Read & Company.
Political Career
Peter Flanigan was a strong supporter of the Republican Party. In 1960, he supported Richard Nixon for president. In 1968, he became Nixon's deputy campaign manager. This meant he helped run Nixon's election campaign.
After Nixon became president, Flanigan worked as a special assistant. He helped the president until 1972. He was very influential, especially in supporting big businesses. Some people, like consumer advocate Ralph Nader, even called him the "mini-president." Flanigan left the Nixon administration in June 1974.
Becoming an Ambassador
After President Nixon, Gerald Ford became president. President Ford wanted Peter Flanigan to be the Ambassador to Spain. An ambassador is a country's official representative in another country. Flanigan was nominated on September 17, 1974. However, the Senate did not approve his nomination. So, he never became an ambassador.
Helping Others
In 1986, Peter Flanigan started an organization called Student Sponsor Partners. This group helps students from tough backgrounds. It provides them with private education. It also gives them mentors and support. This helps students succeed in school and in life.
Family Life
Peter Flanigan's first wife was Brigid Snow. She passed away in 2006. They had five children together. One of their daughters, Sister Louise Marie Flanigan, became a Roman Catholic nun.
In 2008, Peter Flanigan married Dorothea von Oswald. She was from Austria. The couple had homes in Wildenhag, Austria, and in Purchase, New York.
Later Years and Passing
Peter Flanigan died on July 29, 2013. He was 90 years old. He passed away at a hospital near Salzburg, Austria. The cause of his death was not shared publicly.
