Peter II (born 1340 – died June 1408) was an important leader. He was the Count of Urgell from 1347 until he passed away.

Life of Peter II
Early Life and Family
Peter II was born in 1340. He was the oldest son of James I, Count of Urgell. His mother was Cecilia of Comminges. She was the daughter of the Count of Comminges.
When his father died, Peter was still very young. He inherited all of his father's titles. These included Count of Urgell and Viscount of Àger. He also became Baron of Entença and Antillón. Because he was a child, his mother, Cecilia, helped him rule at first.
Marriages and Children
In 1363, Peter II got married for the first time. His wife was Beatrice of Cardona. She was the daughter of Ugo Folch de Cardona.
Later, in 1376, he married again. His second wife was Margaret Paleologa. She was the daughter of John II, Marquess of Montferrat. Peter and Margaret had a son together. Their son was named James II, Count of Urgell. He would later become the next Count of Urgell.
Important Events and Death
Peter II was a strong leader. In 1396, Martin of Aragon became the new King of Aragon. At this time, a powerful noble named Matthew, Count of Foix invaded Aragon. Peter II bravely fought against Matthew. He successfully pushed Matthew's forces back.
Peter II died in June 1408. He passed away in the city of Balaguer.
