Peter Lawson Jones (born December 23, 1952) is an American actor, helper of communities, and politician. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Mr. Jones lives in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He used to work as a county commissioner in Cuyahoga County.

Early Life and Education
Peter Lawson Jones was born on December 23, 1952. His parents were Charles Whitman Jones and Margaret "Diane" Jones. His mother wanted him to go to the good schools in Shaker Heights. She believed a good education was very important for her son.
Mr. Jones studied at Harvard University. He earned his first degree there in 1975. Later, in 1980, he earned his law degree from Harvard as well. He became a lawyer in Ohio in November 1980.
Working in Politics
Peter Lawson Jones started his political career on the Shaker Heights city council. This council helps make decisions for the city. In 1994, he ran for Lieutenant Governor of Ohio.
From 1997 to 2002, he served as a state representative. This means he helped make laws for the state of Ohio. In February 2002, he was chosen to be a county commissioner for Cuyahoga County. A county commissioner helps manage the county's government and services.
Mr. Jones also worked at a law firm called Roetzel & Andress. He balanced his work as a lawyer with his duties in government.
In 2007, Mr. Jones made some important decisions. He voted against raising the sales tax in Cuyahoga County. He also disagreed with tearing down the Ameritrust Tower. This building was once considered for a new county office.
In 2009, people thought Mr. Jones might run for a U.S. Senate seat. However, he decided not to run for that position.
Later in 2009, the way Cuyahoga County was governed changed. Voters decided to replace the county commission with a new system. This new system included an elected county executive.
