Lance Timothy Mason, born on August 26, 1967, is a former American politician and government official. He served in various important roles representing the city of Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a judge on the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. He also served as a member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 25th District from 2007 to 2008. Before that, from 2002 to 2006, he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. During his last year in the House, he was the Assistant Minority Whip. He also worked as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the county. Later, in 2017, he worked for the city of Cleveland under Mayor Frank G. Jackson.
Early Life and Education
Lance Mason was born on August 26, 1967. He grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and graduated from Shaker Heights High School.
He continued his education at the College of Wooster, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. After that, he attended the University of Michigan Law School. He completed his law degree, a Juris Doctor, in 1992.
Political Career Highlights
From 2002 to 2008, Lance Mason was an active member of the Ohio General Assembly. He started his political journey as a state representative. Later, he became a state senator.
In August 2008, the governor of Ohio at the time, Ted Strickland, appointed Mason to a new role. He became a Judge on the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. This appointment happened after a position became available.
In 2017, the City of Cleveland hired Mason for a role in the administration of Mayor Frank G. Jackson. His title was Minority Business Development Administrator. In this role, he helped support and develop businesses owned by minority groups in the city.
