Peter Sasdy (born on May 27, 1935, in Budapest, Hungary) is a British director who has worked on many films and television shows. He is known for directing exciting films for Hammer Film Productions. These include Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970), Countess Dracula (1971), and Hands of the Ripper (1971).
Peter Sasdy also directed several TV series for BBC TV in the 1960s. These popular shows included Wuthering Heights, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, and The Spoils of Poynton. He also directed some of the first episodes of the well-known TV series Minder.

Directing Sherlock Holmes
Peter Sasdy directed three different adaptations of the famous Sherlock Holmes stories.
Early Sherlock Holmes Series
He directed "The Illustrious Client," which was the very first episode of the 1965 BBC series. This series starred Douglas Wilmer as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Stock as Dr. Watson.
Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson
Later, he directed an episode called "The Case of the Blind Man's Bluff" for the TV series Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. This show aired from 1979 to 1980 and featured Geoffrey Whitehead and Donald Pickering.
Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady
In 1991, Sasdy directed the TV film Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady. This movie starred famous actors Christopher Lee and Patrick Macnee.
Other Notable Works
Peter Sasdy directed Welcome to Blood City for Warner Bros. This film is thought to be one of the first movies released in cinemas that explored the idea of "virtual reality."
From 1985 to 1987, he directed the Thames Television production of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3⁄4. This was a popular TV series based on a well-loved book. He also produced and directed Ending Up by Kingsley Amis for Thames TV. This production featured talented actors like John Mills, Wendy Hiller, and Michael Hordern.
