This river flows through two main areas:
- Bolton-Ouest, in the Brome-Missisquoi area.
- Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton, in the Memphrémagog Regional County Municipality.

Where Does the River Start?
The Petite rivière Missisquoi Nord begins in a small, unnamed lake. This lake is in the eastern part of Bolton-Ouest. It sits high up, about 498 m (1,634 ft) above sea level. This starting point is near the top of Mont Saint-Étienne.
The River's Journey
From its source, the Petite rivière Missisquoi Nord travels about 13.2 km (8.2 mi). As it flows, it drops about 258 m (846 ft) in height.
The river's path is quite winding:
- It first flows north through Bolton-Ouest. It even makes a loop into Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton.
- Along the way, it crosses roads like Summit Road.
- It also flows through a small lake before continuing its journey.
- The river then turns east, collecting water from smaller streams.
- It passes near the village of Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton.
- Finally, it turns southeast, crossing more roads and picking up water from other streams.
- It flows through a small body of water called Étang Gras.
Where Does the River End?
The Petite rivière Missisquoi Nord joins the Missisquoi River North. This meeting point is on the west side of the larger river, just north of Bolton-Center.
After joining, the water continues its journey:

- Then it enters the main Missisquoi River.
- From there, it flows into Lake Champlain.
- Finally, the water travels down the Richelieu River for about 124 km (77 mi).
