Petpet Park was a fun online game where you could have your own virtual pet. It was a website launched in October 2008 by the creators of Neopets. In this game, you got to explore a new virtual world. This world was all about Petpets, who are companions to the Neopets characters.

You could choose from nine different types of Petpets. Once you picked one, you could train it by playing games. You could also customize your Petpet with cool outfits. Then, you could take your Petpet to explore the park and meet other players.

The game closed down on September 18, 2014. This happened after another company, JumpStart, bought it.

About the Creators

The company behind Petpet Park was Nickelodeon Kids & Family Virtual Worlds Group. This group used to be called Neopets, Inc.. They create and manage online games and virtual worlds for kids and families.

Petpet Park was based on their very popular game, Neopets. In Neopets, players adopt and care for virtual companions. These companions join them in many games and adventures.

What You Could Do in Petpet Park

Petpet Park was all about Petpets. These are small, cute creatures from the world of Neopia. They are companions to the main Neopets characters.

When you adopted a Petpet, you could dress it up. You could also feed it yummy virtual food, like pizza. Playing games in the park earned you Park Points. These points were the game's money. You could use them to buy new clothes and food for your Petpet. The game also let you chat and play with other players.

If players broke the rules, their accounts could be temporarily stopped or permanently "frozen."

Petpet Species

There were 9 different kinds of Petpets you could choose from in Petpet Park. Each one had its own special traits. These traits did not change how you played the game.

  • Dipni - Dipnis were shy and easily scared Petpets. But they were also very loving. They made happy gurgling sounds when they were content.
  • Oukin - Oukins were usually calm Petpets. However, their loud warning shriek could call other Oukins for help. This made them quite strong together.
  • Pinixy - Pinixy were very active and playful Petpets. They loved to run, jump, wrestle, and climb all the time.
  • Hifflo - Hifflos were sweet and loving Petpets. They moved gracefully and loved music. They could run very fast for short times. It was said that a good song could attract any Hifflo.
  • Drym - Dryms were curious and a bit mischievous. They were more funny than troublesome. They loved to dig for shiny things. They especially enjoyed digging through snow.
  • Kassegat - Kassegats were smart and clever Petpets. They lived in thick jungle areas. These quick Petpets loved exploring and eating jungle fruit.
  • Bandalu - Bandalus were wise and friendly creatures. You could only get them by using special Neocash morphing potions.
  • Puxa - Puxa were fast and quick creatures. They were also only available through Neocash morphing potions.
  • Mumbat - Mumbats were mischievous and fun-loving. You could get them for free or through morphing potions.

Special Items

Some features in Petpet Park needed a special membership to use. Just like in Neopets, Petpet Park had an NC Mall. Here, you could buy items to customize your Petpet. You could even try on clothes before buying them. The NC Mall opened in Petpet Park in July 2009.

Game Shutdown

On September 9, 2014, the Neopets team announced that Petpet Park would close. The game officially shut down on September 18, 2014. This happened after the game was bought by JumpStart.
