Pfeffikon used to be a small town, or 'municipality,' in Switzerland. It was located in the Sursee district, within the Lucerne area, called a 'canton.' On January 1, 2013, Pfeffikon joined with another town called Rickenbach. So now, it's part of Rickenbach.

History of Pfeffikon

Pfeffikon has a long history! The first time we see its name in old records was around the year 1045. Back then, it was spelled a bit differently, like Faffinchouen. Later, in 1173, it was called Phafinchon. These old names help us trace its past.

Geography and Landscape

Pfeffikon covered an area of about 2.5 square kilometers (about 1 square mile). A big part of this land, about 51%, was covered by forests. Another large part, almost 39%, was used for farming. The rest of the land, about 10%, had buildings and roads.

This former town is located on the western side of a hill called the Stierenberg. It's also in the upper part of a valley known as the Wynental. Pfeffikon shares its borders with the Canton of Aargau on its north, east, and south sides.

People and Population

In 2010, Pfeffikon had a population of 738 people. About 12.8% of the people living there were from other countries. Over the ten years before 2010, the number of people living in Pfeffikon went down slightly.

Most people in Pfeffikon speak German, which is about 91.3% of the population. Albanian is the second most common language, spoken by about 2.9% of the people. Italian is the third most common language, spoken by about 1.7%.
