Phillip Imani Booth III (born December 31, 1995) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for JDA Dijon in France. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Villanova Wildcats. Phil is known for being a strong player who helped his teams win big championships.

High School Basketball Star

Phil Booth played high school basketball at Mount Saint Joseph in Baltimore. He was a top player there. In the 2013–14 season, he was named the Baltimore Prep Player of the Year. He was also chosen for the All-Catholic league first team. Phil still holds the record for the most points scored at Mount Saint Joseph High School.

College Career at Villanova

Phil Booth joined Villanova University as a freshman in the 2014–15 season. He quickly became an important player for the team. At the end of his first year, he was named the Philadelphia Big Five Rookie of the Year.

Winning the National Championship

In his second year, during the 2015–16 season, Phil continued to make big plays. He scored 20 points in the National Championship game. This was the most points on his team in that game. Villanova won against North Carolina. Phil made two important free throws with only 35 seconds left. He averaged 7.0 points per game that season.

Dealing with Injuries

During his third year, Phil played only three games. He had to take a break because of ongoing knee pain. This meant he had to "redshirt," which means he didn't play for a full season.

In his fourth year (his redshirt junior year), Phil faced another injury. He broke his right hand during a game on January 23, 2018. He returned to play on February 21. In that game, he scored 14 points. Even with the injury, he remained a starter. In this season, Phil won his second national championship with Villanova.

Senior Year Success

As a senior, Phil Booth had an amazing season. He averaged 18.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He became one of only nine players in Villanova history to score over 1,500 points and have over 300 assists. He also played in a school-record 148 games during his college career.

Professional Basketball Journey

After college, Phil Booth was not chosen in the 2019 NBA draft. However, he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2019 NBA Summer League.

Early Pro Teams

On October 27, 2019, Phil joined the Capital City Go-Go team. On January 4, 2020, he scored 22 points in a game. In 2021, he played for the Oklahoma City Blue. He averaged 8.7 points per game in six games with them.

Playing in Europe

On June 16, 2021, Phil signed with Oostende in Belgium. This team also plays in the Basketball Champions League. In 2022, he helped Oostende win the Belgian League championship.

On July 14, 2022, Phil signed with Budućnost VOLI. This team plays in Montenegro and the EuroCup. On December 31, 2022, he moved to Petkim Spor in Turkey.

On June 14, 2023, he signed with SIG Strasbourg in France. Then, on July 25, 2024, he joined Vanoli Cremona in Italy. Most recently, on November 25, 2024, he signed with JDA Dijon in France, where he plays now.

Family Life

Phil Booth's father, Phil Booth Sr., also played college basketball. He played for Coppin State from 1987 to 1990.
