Phil McCordic's TV Adventures
Phil McCordic has had a long and exciting career in television, especially in shows made for young people. He started out as a host and even toured with a "Mad Science" show, performing for audiences across Canada and the United States.
Hosting and Early Shows
From 1999 to 2003, Phil was the host of Crawlspace/The Space. This was a live show on TVOKids where he spent over 1500 hours on air! He also lent his voice to characters in English versions of shows like Medabots. In 2001, he was "Ranger Phil" and other characters in Reading Rangers.
Creating and Directing Kids' Favorites
Phil is not just an actor; he also creates and directs shows. He created and wrote Tumbletown Tales, a show that ran for 78 episodes between 2004 and 2011. He also voiced the character Tumbleweed.
He worked as a senior producer for Kids' CBC from 2007 to 2013. During this time, the show won many awards, including a Gemini Award.
Zerby Derby
One of Phil's big projects is Zerby Derby, which started in 2013 and is still enjoyed by kids today. He is the creator, producer, director, writer, and even a voice actor for this show! There have been 117 episodes across three seasons.
Science Max: Experiments at Large
From 2015 to 2018, Phil was the host, creator, producer, and writer for Science Max: Experiments at Large. This show was all about doing science experiments in a really big way! It was very popular and won Phil three Canadian Screen Awards, one for each of its three seasons. There were 36 episodes in total.
Other Contributions
Phil has also written for other animated series. He wrote an episode for Franklin and Friends in 2012 and for Dot. in 2017. In 2020, he wrote an episode for Corn & Peg. He also directed the first season of Hi Opie! in 2014.
