Philip Earl Bynoe is an American musician who plays the bass guitar. He is most famous for playing with the rock guitarist Steve Vai. Philip has been the bass player for Steve Vai's touring band since 2012. He also played with Vai from 1996 to 2000. Philip Bynoe has also played on four of Steve Vai's studio albums.
His Musical Journey
Philip Bynoe studied music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He learned from a teacher named Wit Brown. After college, Philip played in several different bands.
Later, another musician named Nuno Bettencourt introduced Philip to drummer Mike Mangini. Philip and Mike played together in the Rick Berlin Band. They even won a music competition in Massachusetts for their rhythm section. Mike Mangini later helped Philip get an audition to play with Steve Vai.
Philip has also worked with many other artists. These include Kevin Eubanks and The Tonight Show Band, Dorian Holley, Slash, and Charlie Farren. Since 2013, he has been a member of the heavy metal band Warlord. He was also a member of the band Ring of Fire.
Awards and Achievements
Philip Bynoe has been recognized for his amazing musical talent. He has received three nominations for the prestigious Grammy Award.
In 2005, Philip won an Emmy Award. This award was for his work on the music for a movie remake.
Teaching and Other Projects
Philip Bynoe continues to record music, go on tours, and perform live. He also shares his knowledge with new musicians. He teaches bass guitar and how to play in a band at the L.A. Music Academy in Pasadena.
Philip also appeared on the soundtrack for the 2008 movie Repo! The Genetic Opera. He is currently playing with a band called A - Z.
