Philip Joseph Pierre (born 18 September 1954) is a politician from Saint Lucia. He is currently the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, a role he started on 28 July 2021. He also works as the Minister for Finance, looking after the country's money and economy.
Philip J. Pierre leads the Saint Lucia Labour Party since 18 June 2016. He has been a Member of Parliament for the Castries East area since 1997. Before becoming Prime Minister, he was the Deputy Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

Early Life and Education
Philip Pierre was born on 18 September 1954. His mother, Evelyn, was a teacher, and his father, Auguste, was a police officer. He went to Saint Mary's College in Saint Lucia.
After college, he studied at the University of the West Indies. He earned a degree in accounting and later a Master of Business Administration (MBA). This helped him learn how to manage businesses well.
Early Career
After finishing his studies, Philip Pierre worked as a teacher at Saint Mary's College. He also gained experience in business at J.Q. Charles Ltd. He then moved into the finance world.
He worked as an audit clerk, checking financial records for companies like Coopers & Lybrand. From 1985 to 1994, he was a director at the National Research and Development Corporation. He also ran his own business, Philip J. Pierre Business Services Ltd., from 1990 to 1997.
Political Journey
Philip Pierre joined the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) in 1985. He was the party's treasurer from 1986 to 1992, managing their money. In 1992, he first tried to become a Member of Parliament for Castries East but did not win.
He became the SLP chairman from 1992 to 1996. In the 1997 election, he ran again and won his seat. He became the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, and International Financial Services.
Rising Through Politics
Philip Pierre kept his seat in the House of Assembly in the elections of 2001, 2006, and 2011. In December 2011, he became the Deputy Prime Minister. He was also the Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services, and Transportation.
In the 2016 election, the SLP lost, but Philip Pierre kept his seat. The party leader, Kenny Anthony, stepped down. Philip Pierre was then chosen as the new leader on 18 June 2016. He also became the Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition.
Becoming Prime Minister
Philip Pierre is a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). This group connects lawmakers from different countries. He also joined the Assembly of Caribbean Community Parliamentarians.
He led the SLP in the 2021 general election. His party won most of the seats. On 28 July 2021, Philip J. Pierre was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia.
