The Big Adventure Begins
Phineas and Ferb have done so many amazing things this summer. Now, Phineas feels a bit bored and wants one more huge adventure! He and Ferb decide to travel all the way around the world. Their goal is to move at the same speed as the Earth spins. This way, they can make one super-long, 24-hour day. They want to create the "biggest, longest, funnest summer day of all time!"
Doofenshmirtz's Tokyo Trip
Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz is on a trip to Tokyo, Japan, with his daughter, Vanessa. Vanessa is excited at first, but then she gets upset. She finds out her dad has captured Major Monogram! Doofenshmirtz plans to ruin the International Good Guy Convention. He wants to use a giant water balloon and blame Monogram for it. Vanessa gets mad, saying her dad always puts his evil plans before her. She decides to leave for Paris on her own.
At the same time, Perry the Platypus, also known as Agent P, gets a warning. Carl tells him about a strange note sent to the O.W.C.A. (Organization Without a Cool Acronym). Perry realizes Monogram is in trouble and goes to find him.
Meeting in Tokyo
In Tokyo, Phineas, Ferb, and their friends need fuel for their plane. They meet Stacy's cousins and get vegetable oil. While they are there, Vanessa accidentally gets knocked off the Tokyo Tower. This happens because Perry, as Agent P, tries to stop Doofenshmirtz's giant balloon. Vanessa lands safely with the group.
Doofenshmirtz sees Vanessa in danger and decides to stop his plan. He wants to rescue her instead. Perry and Major Monogram feel they should help him. So, they all travel together in Agent P's cool platypus-shaped hovercar.
Himalayan Bounces
The group, including Vanessa, crashes their plane in the Himalayas in India. Their plane loses its wings! Phineas and the kids go to see Baljeet's grand-uncle, Sabu. He runs a factory that makes rubber bands and rubber balls. Sabu sings a song called "Rubber Bands" as he shows them around. This gives Phineas an idea!
They decide to attach a giant bouncy rubber ball to the bottom of their plane. This way, they can bounce their way to Paris and then back home. As they travel around the world in their new bouncy plane, you can hear the song "Bouncin' Around The World."
Paris and Feelings
In Paris, France, which Isabella calls "the city of love," Candace sees Jeremy with other kids and gets upset. Isabella is also sad because Phineas doesn't seem to notice that she likes him. Phineas is only focused on fixing their plane.
On top of the Eiffel Tower, Ferb talks to Vanessa. She's still upset about her dad. Ferb tells her to try and meet her dad halfway by spending more time with him. Ferb walks away, and then Doofenshmirtz, Perry, and Major Monogram arrive to rescue Vanessa. Vanessa is annoyed that her dad brought "work" again. But Doofenshmirtz complains about all the trouble he went through to rescue her. He even needed help from Perry and Monogram!
The Journey Home
The group leaves Paris, but their boat falls apart, leaving only the seats. They crash on a deserted island with two palm trees and a big ox. Meanwhile, in Paris, Major Monogram and Perry arrest Doofenshmirtz. But Vanessa stops them and leaves with her dad in Perry's hovercraft. Perry is left behind by Monogram, who has to go "take in a review."
Back on the island, Phineas tries hard to find a way off. He finally gives up and sits down to watch the sunset with Isabella, just like she wanted. But Isabella encourages him, and he gets a new idea! He decides to use Ferb's giant map as a huge paper airplane.
The group launches the paper airplane and rides it back to Danville. There's a huge ditch from road construction, and their neighborhood is on the other side. With only one minute left, Buford gives everyone their bikes back. He had stolen them earlier! Candace didn't have her bike, so she rides a green tricycle. The group uses a makeshift ramp to jump the ditch. They arrive home with just one second to spare!
Phineas and Ferb's parents arrive home too. For once, Candace doesn't try to bust her brothers because she had so much fun. Everyone sings the song "Summer Belongs to You." Jeremy comes home early and kisses Candace, calling her his girlfriend, which makes her super happy! After the celebration, Phineas wonders where Perry is. The episode ends with Perry alone at a restaurant in Paris.
Making the Episode
The co-director, Robert F. Hughes, said that this special was first planned to be a full-length movie. But because of some story problems, they decided to make it an hour-long TV special instead. That movie idea later became Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension.
